The Inter-Agency Task Force (IATF) for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases is discussing the appeal of healthcare workers to lift the overseas deployment ban, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said.
“Ito ay isa sa mga pinag-uusapan natin sa IATF at nakikipag-ugnayan na rin tayo sa Office of the President, kay Pangulong (Rodrigo) Duterte mismo,” Nograles said during a Facebook live session Saturday.
The Palace official said the task force gave Duterte options to ameliorate the concerns of health care workers who do not have signed overseas employment contracts (OECs) as of March 8, 2020.
According to IATF Resolution No. 23, only those with perfected and signed OECs as of March 8 are allowed to leave the country for work abroad.
“Pinakita namin sa sulat namin kay Pangulo kung ilan ang mga nurses na naapektuhan at ilan ang mga nurses na maaaring maka-benefit kung i-extend pa natin at payagan pa natin ‘yong mga nakapagpirma ng kontrata as of let’s say beyond March,” said Nograles.
Duterte has yet to decide on the matter.
