Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea ordered the Internal Affairs Service (IAS) of the Philippine National Police (PNP) to investigate the birthday celebration of Metro Manila police chief Police Major General Debold Sinas, Malacañang said.
In a virtual presser Thursday, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said that Medialdea asked to forward the results of the investigation to his office.
“Kakausap ko lang kay Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea. Inatasan niya ang IAS ng PNP na mag conduct ng imbestigasyon at i-forward sa kanyang tanggapan mismo kung ano ang resulta ng imbestigasyon,” Roque also said.
Sinas came under fire after photos of his mañanita last May 8 showed he and his guests violated quarantine policies like mass gathering and liquor ban amid the enhanced community quarantine being implemented in the National Capital Region.
The NCRPO chief has since apologized for the incident but insisted that the photos that went viral online were edited.
