Yan ang leader! Ping lauds Baguio’s Mayor Magalong for instilling discipline among residents

Now that’s a real leader: One who instills discipline among those he leads.

On this note, Sen. Panfilo Lacson lauded Baguio City Mayor Benjamin Magalong for setting a well-disciplined response by residents to the COVID-19 threat.

“A leader who leads matters. This is how I knew Gen Magalong in the PNP; this is how he is as Baguio City mayor. That is what he will always be as a leader,” Lacson said in a post on his Twitter account Sunday (https://twitter.com/iampinglacson/status/1256766712411635713).

Lacson also included in his tweet an image of Baguio City residents practicing social distancing to slow the spread of COVID-19.

Magalong worked under Lacson at the Philippine National Police, which Lacson headed from 1999 to 2001.

Lacson has repeatedly lauded Magalong for choosing integrity over career when Magalong reported on his findings on the 2015 Mamasapano incident that killed 44 Special Action Force troopers – implicating in the process some officials of the Aquino administration including then President Benigno Aquino III himself and then PNP chief Alan Purisima.

In contrast, Lacson lamented other officials who make and implement policies do not seem to have even the common sense to do their jobs.

“Sadly, most of the time, common sense is not common among those who make and implement policies,” he said (https://twitter.com/iampinglacson/status/1256773578365652997).
