Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said former Anakpawis party-list Rep. Ariel Casilao is not yet off the hook.
Guevarra pointed this out after a municipal trial court dismissed the case against Casilao and six other Anakpawis members of a non-compliance case under Republic Act 11332, the law on the mandatory reporting of notifiablle diseases.
“As to the charges of inciting to sedition and usurpation of authority, the indictment stands and the arraignment of the accused has been scheduled this month,” said Guevarra who noted that the arraignment will take place on June 24.
The case stemmed from their arrest on April 19 at a checkpoint in Norzagaray, Bulacan for violating quarantine rules.
The group, which claimed that they were on their way to conduct relief operations, failed to present quarantine passes or permits to travel.
“OPP-Bulacan (Office of the Provincial Prosecutor) may file a motion for partial reconsideration,” said Guevarra about the dismissed charge.
