Sotto pokes fun at anti-terror law critics for running out of arguments: ‘Wa-epek mga pintas nila!

By JOHN CARLO M. CAHINHINAN

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III has poked fun at critics of the Congress-approved anti-terrorism bill for suddenly shifting its attention towards the potential lapses on its upcoming implementation.

According to Sotto, it looks like the oppositors of the proposed Anti-Terrorism Act of 2020 have ran out of arguments and have now claimed its upcoming implementation may only lead to abuse.

“Tama si Ping (Lacson), nuong hindi umubra mga pintas nila sa laman ng bill dahil wala mga sinasabi nila, sa implementasyon naman ang target. Futuristic? Ano ba talaga?” said Sotto on his Twitter post.

Senator Panfilo Lacson earlier scored the detractors of the controversial measure for shifting their aim “to target the implementation.”

“They have mastered the art of argumentation—when you run out of sound reasons to argue, just say: BASTA!” Lacson’s Twitter post read.

Lacson stressed that the provisions under the Anti-Terrorism Bill “are clear and specific.”

“All laws, without exception, are subject to interpretation by lawyers and ordinary citizens. In the end, the only one that matters is that of the Supreme Court. Rational public discourse is always encouraged,” he said.
