Malacañang on Monday said it was saddened with the spike of coronavirus (Covid-19) cases on Sunday.
The public, however, should not feel “disheartened” by the rise in virus infections, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
On Sunday, the Philippines recorded 2,424 new cases of Covid-19, its highest in a single day, bringing the total to 44,254.
“Ito ang pinakamatas na mga bagong kaso na naitala sa loob isang araw. Marami ang kinabahan sa ulat na ito. Maging kami nalungkot nung una naming narinig ito,” Roque said in a virtual presser aired on state-run PTV-4.
“Hindi dapat panghinaan ng loob. Tuloy po ang laban. Bagamat tumataas ang kaso ng COVID, nananatiling mababa ang mga namamatay, nanatitiling tumataas ang mga gumagaling,” he added.
