Kakampi, hindi katunggali! Lacson advises DOH to treat private sector as partners in fighting COVID

The private sector is your ally, not your competitor.

Sen. Panfilo Lacson gave this piece of advice Saturday to the Department of Health amid its continued struggles to contain the COVID-19 threat.

Lacson also reiterated his stand that DOH officials who have become “part of the problem” should just quit their posts.

“Very well said. I hope DOH will really do do away with the more-of-the-same bureaucratic crap and look at the private sector as partner rather than their competitor. And, yes – resign if you have become part of the problem, not the solution,” Lacson said in a post on his Twitter account.

Lacson’s tweet was in reply to Dr. Minguita Padilla, who bared her “wish list” for government in a television interview Friday night.

Padilla, a general practitioner and physician, said her wish list included “expanded free pcr testing, greater sense of urgency, no more using healthcare for profiteering, political ambition and pogi points, stop the turf wars.”

“Cannot be business as usual,” she added.

Earlier this year, Lacson bared a pattern of overpricing at the DOH for medical equipment used to deal with the COVID-19 pandemic.

These involved equipment ranging from swab systems to nucleic acid extraction machines.

He noted the Ombudsman is conducting a fact-finding investigation and this may go to the preliminary investigation stage.
