Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (Philhealth) president and CEO Ricardo Morales urged whistleblower, abogado Thorrsson Montes Keith, to come out from hiding because his life was not under threat.

“Lumabas ka na, mabait na ako ngayon. Alam mo, noong may buhok pa ako siguro (siya matakot),” said Morales in an interview with DZBB’s Arnold Clavio and Ali Sotto.

The former Army commander made the appeal after Keith revealed that he went into hiding to protect himself from retaliation after spilling the beans on Philhealth corruption after his well-publicized resignation as Philhealth anti-fraud legal officer on July 26.

Morales said he does not know Keith personally as the abogado was recruited by his staff in October 2020 as part of his efforts to crack down on fraud and corruption in Phihealth when he took over three months earlier.

The Davao-born Morales is a 1977 graduate of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA) and a former chief security escort of former First Lady Imelda Marcos. He is a member of the Reform the Armed Forces Movement (RAM) which played a key role in the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution. He mostly served as brigadier commander in Mindanao during his military career.
