President Rodrigo Duterte will wait for the conclusion of the congressional inquiry before deciding on the fate of PhilHealth chief Ricardo Morales, Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said.
The Senate is currently investigating the allegations of widespread corruption in PhilHealth following the resignation of Anti-Fraud Legal Officer Thorrsson Montes Keith.
“(Duterte) respects the Senate as a co-equal branch of government and the executive would ideally await the Upper House’s findings and recommendations,” Nograles said at the Kapihan sa Manila Bay forum Wednesday.
He also raised the possibility that the President “may act on PhilHealth even before the Senate investigation terminates.”
Keith had earlier claimed that the state insurer lost P15 billion due to fraudulent activities by some top officials.
