President Rodrigo Duterte hoped for Philippine Health Insurance Corp. (PhilHealth) president Ricardo Morales’ speedy recovery, his spokesman said.
Morales said he has filed a request for medical leave while undergoing treatment for lymphoma, a cancer that develops in the lymphatic system.
“The President wishes President Morales speedy recovery. ‘Yun lang po. Hindi naman po niya didiinan ang tao na nagsasabi na merong malubhang karamdaman. We wish him the best and we hope he recovers right away,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser Tuesday.
Roque also said he sees no problem if Morales, who is currently being investigated for alleged corruption in the state-run health insurance agency, chooses to stay in PhilHealth while on chemotherapy.
“Sa kahit anong organisasyon hindi magkakaroon ng leadership vaccum. Kahit anong magiging desisyon ni General Morales meron talagang system in place para magpatuloy ang trabaho ng kahit anong organisasyon sa gobyerno,” he added.
