Para sa COVID! Palace backs proposed P4.5B confidential, intel fund

President Rodrigo Duterte can use his 2021 confidential and intelligence funds for Covid-19 response efforts, Malacañang said.

Next year’s budget proposal allocates P4.5-billion intelligence funds for the Office of the President.

“Alam ninyo po iyan tawag lang po diyan ‘confidential’ pero ito ho ay pondo na pupuwedeng gastusin ng Pangulo kapag mayroon pong pangangailangan,” according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.

“Marami na po siyang nagastos sa kaniyang confidential fund para sa COVID, para sa mga namatay na sundalo, para sa mga namatay dahil sa COVID,” Roque said during his virtual presser yesterday.

He, however, clarified that confidential fund, whether or not it’s included in the line item, could be spent by the President but is still subject to audit.
