The Presidential Security Group (PSG) will have the final say on whether President Rodrigo Duterte will get injected with a Russian coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine, according to Malacañang.
Last Monday, Duterte accepted Russia’s offer of its Covid-19 vaccine and volunteered to take the first shot.
“It’s perfectly fine for him to offer it because that’s his way of telling the people that I want us to have a vaccine and if I have to be the guinea pig for it I don’t mind,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque told CNN Philippines’ The Source Wednesday.
“But, as to whether or not PSG will actually allow him is a different thing,” he said.
Russian Ambassador to the Philippines Igor Khovaev had said his country is willing to supply Manila with Covid-19 vaccines.
The Soviet Union can also invest with a local firm for the mass production of the vaccine, he added.
