President Rodrigo Duterte has ordered the Department of Justice and the Office of the Solicitor General to coordinate with the courts on how to destroy confiscated drugs.
“It behooves upon (Justice) Secretary Guevarra and the SolGen to make representations with the Supreme Court that kung marami ang shabu involved, there should be a fiscal on duty just to take a few random samples at ibigay niya ang sample nakuha niya and a test be made,” Duterte said in a televised speech Wednesday night.
The random sample of illegal drugs, he added, must be tested thrice before the actual burning or destruction to avoid recycling and diversion.
“After three trials, kung saan-saan kunin, the certification of the inquest fiscal should be taken on its face value na talagang shabu ‘yan lahat kasi nahihirapan tayo,” according to him.
Last October 5, Duterte ordered all confiscated shabu to be destroyed in a week to prevent rogue cops from recycling drug evidence.
