President Rodrigo Duterte is pushing for the training of police officers to end crimes committed by motorcycle-riding suspects.
“We can train the highway patrol. We can train about siguro in one class 30. We have to increase the mobile capacity ng pulis at saka we can buy motorcycles ‘yung mahahaba, all that can negotiate any obstacle, the ordinary obstacles that you’d find in the streets,” Duterte said on Wednesday.
He added that some 250 policemen should operate incognito to prevent motorcycle-riding crimes or incidents.
The Chief Executive in his taped address after his meeting with the Inter-Agency Task Force on Emerging Infectious Diseases lamented the rising rate of street crime, which he attributed to the gradual reopening of the economy.
“We have seen an upsurge of holdups, street crimes again it’s because of the liberality being offered by the opening of the economy. And of course, people are now allowed to roam freely and to travel.
“The most convenient way is really ‘yung motor. Kapag nakapatay sila, diretso sakay,” he also said.
