Hanggang ngayon talak nang talak! Velasco shrugs off Villafuerte’s warning on 2021 budget insertions

House Speaker Lord Allan Jay Velasco has dismissed the allegation of Camarines Sur Rep. Luis Raymund Villafuerte that his allies might be delaying the transmittal of the proposed P4.5-trillion national budget for 2021 to the Senate to make “last minute insertions” for their benefit.

Velasco noted that Villafuerte has been his vocal critic since the start of the speakership row.

“Noong umpisa pa ng laban eh talak na nang talak. Hanggang ngayon eh talak pa rin nang talak. I just don’t try to listen anymore,” he told reporters Friday (October 16) after the House passed the 2021 General Appropriations Bill on third and final reading.

Villafuerte, who is allied with ousted Speaker Alan Peter Cayetano, even dragged his rival, former Camarines Sur Rep. Rolando Andaya Jr., into his feud with Velasco, claiming the erstwhile lawmaker was “actively participating behind the scenes” to help the Speaker.

His claim was denied by Velasco, saying Andaya hasn’t been helping him behind the scenes.

Velasco said what matters to him is the support of majority of the 301-member House.

“Basta kami rito sa Kongreso ngayon, kami po ay buong-buo. Kami ay nagkakaroon ng isang talagang magandang samahan,” he said.
