Palace open to appointing vaccine czar vs Covid-19

By Prince Golez

Malacañang on Wednesday welcomed the suggestion of Senate President Pro Tempore Ralph Recto to appoint a “vaccine czar” to ensure all Filipinos would have access to the coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccine.

“Alam niyo, the suggestion is very well-taken,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing.

Roque, however, recalled that President Rodrigo Duterte already designated a vaccine czar two months ago.

“Kaya nga lang po yung natalagang vaccine czar is hesitant when I asked him if I could remind the public that he has been designated as a vaccine czar kasi baka hindi na raw po naalala ni Presidente. So, he would like to wait for the President to make the announcement anew,” he also said.

Meanwhile, Roque echoed Recto’s statement that designating a vaccine czar will ensure the country’s capability to import and distribute Covid-19 vaccine, including provision for cold storage.
