President Rodrigo Duterte may call for an independent investigation into the corruption allegations inside the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH), his spokesman said.
In a speech on Wednesday, Duterte denounced the corruption in DPWH projects.
“Posibleng gawin po iyan,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser yesterday.
Roque, however, said the Chief Executive is still focused on the investigation that he ordered against officials of the Philippine Health Insurance Corporation.
“Pero hayaan na po muna natin iyan dahil sa ngayon po eh nakatutok pa sa PhilHealth ang Presidente,” according to him.
Duterte claimed that no construction begins without a transaction.
“Projects, ‘yung mga project engineers, iyan, iyan lahat, road right-of-way, grabe ang corruption diyan. Walang — walang construction na uumpisa dito na walang transaction. Mayroon ‘yan,” he said.
