Subaru is debuting the all-new, second-generation BRZ sportscar by the end of this year. This fact has been confirmed no less than by Subaru of America which posted it on Instagram (you can see the full post below).
The teaser image which shows the 2022 Subaru BRZ’s new multi-spoke wheel design also carries the following caption:
“Subaru BRZ – World Premiere coming this Fall.”Fall in the U.S.A. officially started last September 22, 2020 and will end on December 21, 2020. This means the wait for the all-new rear-wheel drive sportscar won’t be long.
Currently, Subaru has been tightlipped on the all-new BRZ, but several sources say that it, along with its sister car, the Toyota 86 will have much more power courtesy of a 2.4-liter Flat-4 shared with the Ascent. It could have anywhere between 217 horsepower to 260 horsepower depending if Subaru would opt to install a turbocharger.
Moreover, there seems to be a consensus that the all-new BRZ won’t be using the Toyota TNGA or Subaru SGP platform. Instead, it looks increasingly certain that it will retain the use of its current platform but aided with a stiffer body and the use of lighter weight materials.
Despite the economic slowdown, it seems times are good for those hunting for a Japanese sportscar.
