Could This Be the "Ultimate Version" of the Ford Ranger Wildtrak?

The subtly refreshed 2021 Ford Ranger makes it to its first market outside of Thailand: Australia. And now, we see it as one of the most sought-after variants: the Ranger Wildtrak X.

Officially called the 2021.25MY (this could signify that we’ll see the all-new Ranger pretty soon), Australia gets the very same updates seen in the domestic Thai model. It includes a new front grille design with Sabre Orange highlights to the “nostrils.” The same color accent is also found on the Sports hoop bar. Other exterior changes include the replacement of Ebony Black for Bolder Gray as accents. A power roller shutter also adds security to the cargo hold.

Unique to the new Wildtrak X though is a much more aggressive styling package which adds a black nudge bar, a 20.5-inch slimline LED light bar, black 18-inch alloy wheels with a 35-mm offset, and Ebony Black wheel arches.

Inside, the 2021.25MY Wildtrak adds orange stitching detail on the steering wheel, gear lever, and handbrake boot. Meanwhile, the Wildtrak X adds the same Sabre Orange detailing on the seat face and cushions, plus additional leather accents on the side bolsters, and illuminated front scuff plates.

In Australia, the 2021.25MY Wildtrak is available with either the 2.0-liter bi-turbo inline-4 mated to a 10-speed automatic, or the 3.2-liter inline-5 mated to a 6-speed automatic. It also comes with Ford’s full suite of driver assist technology including autonomous emergency braking with pedestrian detection, adaptive cruise control, and electronic differential lock. It also gets tire pressure monitoring and active park assist.

While it’s almost a given that the Philippines will see the 2021.25MY Ranger sometime next year,  they remain mum on the chances of the Wildtrak X making it locally. It must be remembered that it made its debut late last year in Thailand, and since then we have seen Australia carry it too.
