Despite the shutdown of broadcast giant ABS-CBN, Malacañang said there was “no communication vacuum” during the onslaught of typhoon “Rolly.”
There was sufficient media coverage of the typhoon, according to Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque.
“Nagbibigay-pugay po tayo, lalung-lalo na, sa mga PTV reporters, sa PIA. Gumagana po yung communication infrastructure ng gobyerno sa panahon ng aberiya,” Roque said during a televised briefing Monday.
He added that other private media outlets helped disseminate information about the storm.
“Sa tingin ko, wala naman pong vacuum. Nandyan din po ang ating mga pribadong news agencies. Nandyan po ang TV 5, nandyan po ang GMA-7 at nandyan po yung mga matatapang at magagaling, masisipag na reporters ng radyo.”
