President Rodrigo Duterte has appointed Major General Debold Sinas as new chief of the Philippine National Police (PNP).
Sinas is currently the head of the Metro Manila police force.
He will replace outgoing PNP chief Gen. Camilo Cascolan, who is set to retire on Tuesday.
“Tinalaga po ni Presidente Rodrigo Roa Duterte si Debold Menorias Sinas bilang bagong Philippine National Police chief effective bukas, November 10, 2020,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing Monday.
Last May, Sinas drew public ire over a pre-dawn birthday serenade at Camp Bagong Diwa in Taguig City, that allegedly breached government’s protocols on mass gathering.
