President Rodrigo Duterte administered the oath of office of Marinduque Rep. Lord Allan Velasco as the new House Speaker in Malacañang yesterday, November 9.
Last month, Velasco was elected as the new Speaker of the House of Representatives, replacing Taguig-Pateros Rep. Alan Peter Cayetano.
A total of 186 lawmakers voted to ratify Velasco’s election as House leader.
In the photos released by Malacañang, Duterte and Velasco were shown posing with the fist bump, a signature hand gesture of the chief executive.
The congressman was joined by his family during the oath-taking ceremony.
