Malacañang said President Rodrigo Duterte wants to commend local governments and agencies on its preparations leading up to typhoon “Rolly.”
“Tingin ko po ang paningin ng Presidente, he would like to commend all local government units, all departments and agencies of government dahil napakita naman natin na dahil sa ating kahandaan, nabawasan natin yung aberya,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque during a televised briefing Monday.
Roque attributed the low number of people killed by the typhoon to the timely evacuation of people.
“The goal should be zero casualty. Pero dahil tingin ko naman po, nag-evacuate ang mga tao. nagkaroon ng forced evacuation, nabasawan talaga ang ating casualty sa bagyong ito,” according to him.
“Sa susunod, we will still aim for zero casualties. So, we still ask for the continuing cooperation of our people,” he added.
Roque also thanked everyone who lent their support to the typhoon victims.
“Thank you very much to all the men and women comprising the agencies and instrumentalities of the Philippine government, including the local governments [and] the public in general.”
