There’s no truth that the government will impose a nationwide lockdown from December 23 to January 3, 2021, Malacañang said Sunday.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque was reacting to circulating text messages that a nationwide lockdown will be enforced in the Philippines from December 23 in an effort to reduce the spread of the coronavirus during the holidays.
“Fake news,” Roque told reporters.
The government earlier urged the public to limit Christmas gatherings to immediate family members to prevent holiday Covid-19 spike.
Metro Manila, Batangas, Iloilo City, Tacloban City, Lanao del Sur, Iligan, and Davao City remain under General Community Quarantine (GCQ) until December 31.
The rest of the country is under modified GCQ
