Kiko to Rody: Why release list of alleged corrupt lawmakers without proof?

Senator Kiko Pangilinan on Tuesday slammed President Rodrigo Duterte’s decision to release a list of House members allegedly involved in corruption, calling it “anti-opposition” instead of “anti-corruption.”

“Kung walang konkretong ebidensya laban sa mga ito anonang motibo para isiwalat?” he said in a Viber message to reporters.

“Bakit yung mga kakampi na klarong klaro at konkreto ang ebidensya ng palpak o kurakot na pamumuno tulad ng overpriced na testing kits, pagpapalusot ng toneladang shabu sa customs wala silang imik?” Pangilinan said.

“Anti corruption ba talaga o anti opposition at pro sunud sunuran na mga kakampi ang layunin?” said the Liberal Party president.

Duterte on Monday bared the names of lawmakers included in the list made by the Presidential Anti-Corruption Commission’s (PACC) of government officials allegedly involved in corruption.

“The public should be aware that there is no hard evidence, that it cannot be translated by just reading the names that they are already guilty because presumption of innocence would like all throughout until conviction or acquittal,” he said.

“I just want to assure everybody that yung pagbasa sa pangalan ninyo is a condemnation or indictment that you are guilty of something. In the same manner that I would tell people, do not take it as gospel truth na totoo talaga ito,” Duterte added.
