Malacañang assured that there will be no corruption involved in the approval of coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines for emergency use.
“Consistent po tayo na papayagan lang natin magamit ang bakuna kapag napatunayan na ligtas at mabisa laban sa Covid-19,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said Thursday.
Roque was reacting to the alleged bribery allegations against China’s Sinovac Biotech, whose CEO allegedly bribed Chinese drug regulators to grant approval for their SARS vaccine in 2003 and swine flu vaccine back in 2009.
“Buong-buo ang tiwala ni Presidente kay (Food and Drugs Administration Director General) Dr. (Rolando Enrique) Domingo so pagdating po diyan sa mga allegations on bribery, tingin ko po hindi mangyayari yan sa Pilipinas,” he added.
President Rodrigo Duterte earlier signed Executive Order No. 121, allowing the Food and Drugs Administration to issue an emergency use authorization (EUA) for drugs and vaccines against Covid-19.
The EUA shortens the process of approving Covid-19 vaccines from six months to just 21 days.
