‘Di na pwede! Guevarra rules out joint PNP-NBI probe on Christine Dacera’s death

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra on Saturday (Jan. 30) said it is already too late for the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) and Philippine National Police (PNP) to have a joint examination of the remains of dead flight attendant Christina Dacera.

“The police has recently come up with its official report,” Guevarra pointed out.

“On the other hand, the NBI is in the end-stage of its investigation,” he added.

Because of these, the secretary pointed out that “a joint investigation may not be feasible anymore.”

Guevarra made the statement after the Dacera family sought to have the NBI and PNP conduct a joint examination of her remains.

Though the PNP has issued a medico-legal report which showed that Dacera died from natural causes, the family still believes that she had been raped and killed.

Meanwhile, the NBI has yet to publicly reveal the results of its forensic examination on the remains of the flight attendant.

“Initially i ordered the NBI to assist the police in the investigation, particularly on the forensic examination aspect,” Guevarra said.

“But later it became necessary for the NBI to conduct its own investigation in the interest of time and efficiency,” he added.
