Malacañang assured the public that President Rodrigo Duterte will act on the proposal of the Department of Agriculture to impose a price ceiling on pork and chicken to manage the cost of these commodities amid the coronavirus pandemic.
Agriculture Secretary William Dar earlier proposed an executive order to Duterte that will impose a price freeze in Metro Manila for two months.
“Hintayin na lang po natin ang desisyon,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a virtual presser Tuesday.
“It was a recommendation made by the authorized Cabinet Secretary and it’s a matter of time po before the President acts on it. Kaunting hintay lang po,” he also said.
Dar said the price ceiling will prevent illegal acts of price manipulation of basic necessities.
