After talking at length about the COVID-19 pandemic, President Rodrigo Duterte ended his public address Wednesday (January 13) by playing a song to remind people of how fleeting life is.
Towards the end of his speech, Duterte said: “This is for people, mga anak ninyo na kagaya ng sinasabi ni… Actually, this song is a counterpart of Anak’, ‘yung kay Freddie Aguilar.”
A rendition of “Yesterday When I Was Young” then played as the camera panned to show the government officials present at the meeting.
Aguilar, meanwhile, is one of Duterte’s favorite singers, with some of his songs being played during events of the President.
