PH won’t lag behind Asia-Pacific peers in pandemic recovery – Palace

By Prince Golez

Malacañang said it will disprove a forecast that the Philippines is likely to be the last country in Asia-Pacific to fully recover from the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic-induced economic downturn.

Moody’s Analytics earlier said the country is expected to rebound in the fourth quarter of 2022 while other economies are set to regain growth by end of 2021.

“Huwag kayong mag-alala, we will disprove that forecast wrong. At ito po ang dahilan kung bakit nagbubukas tayo ng ekonomiya at palaging sinasabi sa ating mga kababayan: Pag-ingatan ang buhay ng tayo po’y makapaghanapbuhay,” Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said in a televised briefing Thursday.

Roque also cited Finance Secretary Carlos Dominguez III as he underscored the need to keep a conservative borrowing program and to maintain a very good credit score.
