Palace Spokesman Harry Roque defended his preference for China’s coronavirus (Covid-19) vaccines, saying that inactivated vaccine, like that of Sinovac and Sinopharm, was “tried and tested.”
His choice to receive his shot of Chinese vaccines was a “personal decision,” Roque said during his virtual presser Monday.
“Dahil nakausap na natin si Dr. Lulu Bravo (at) Dr. (Rontgene) Solante. Ang sabi nila, as far as platform is concerned, yung inactivated daw po, yung patay na virus ay ginagamit na for the past 260 years,” according to him.
“So, sa tingin ko, I would feel comfortable na yung platform na ginagamit ng ibabakuna sa akin tried and tested for 260 years,” he added.
Roque also stressed that vaccine candidates granted an emergency use authorization (EUA) go through incredible scrutiny to ensure safety.
“Lahat ng bakuna na mabibigyan ng EUA eh meron pong opinyon, hindi lang isa, hindi lang dalawa kundi tatlong mga grupo na ekspertong nagsasabi na ligtas yan at epektibo,” he concluded.
