Duterte OKs creation of task force for relocation of rebel returnees

By Prince Golez

President Rodrigo Duterte has given the Department of Agrarian Reform (DAR) the go signal to create a task force aiding the relocation of rebel returnees.

Cabinet Secretary Karlo Nograles said this will speed up the implementation of land distribution for rebel returnees and supporters, which aims at building confidence with those who want to return to the fold of the government.

Citing a DAR report, Nograles noted that a total of 6,406.6 hectares of land have been distributed in Regions 2, 5, 8, and 11.

“Gusto po natin mapabilis ang pag-distribute nito dahil alam po natin na napakalaki ng role nito para sa ating peace efforts,” he said.

During yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, Duterte also approved the following recommendations:

-For the AFP/PNP to provide security measures in the government-owned land (GOL) areas which are found to be critical in nature;

-For government agencies to identify idle GOLs that are ideal for distribution for rebel returnees; and

-To implement the whole-of-nation approach for the enhancement of livelihood support projects to rebel returnees.
