In House Resolution 1566, TGP partylist Rep. Jose Teves Jr., pointed out that e-sports was already integrated as the inaugural games in the 2016 Rio Olympics.

“WHEREAS, in the 2019 Southeast Asian Games, the Philippines represented by its national team—Sibol, made history after winning the first gold medal in the SEA Games e-sports competition Mobile Legends: Bang Bang defeating Indonesia in the final round,” the resolution read.
On January 25, the Philippine Team BREN e-sports emerged as the champion in M2 Mobile Legends: Bang Bang World Tournaments held in Singapore.
