Former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. will try his luck again in politics despite losing in the 2016 vice presidential race.
Marcos’ spokesperson, lawyer Vic Rodriguez, confirmed he will run in the 2022 elections in an interview over ANC’s “Headstart” Wednesday (February 17).
Rodriguez, however, did not say which position Marcos will run for.
Pulse Asia’s survey on probable presidential candidates released on Dec. 31, 2020 showed Marcos tied for second place with Senator Grace Poe with a 14 percent preference rating. The poll was topped by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte, with a rating of 26 percent.
The Supreme Court, sitting as the Presidential Electoral Tribunal (PET), dismissed on Tuesday (February 16), Marcos’ poll protest against Vice President Leni Robredo.
Marcos challenged Robredo’s 2016 victory, alleging electoral fraud.
