Chief Presidential Legal Counsel Salvador Panelo took exception to the statement of former Senator Antonio Trillanes IV describing supporters of President Rodrigo Duterte as stupid.
In a Tweet last February 8, Trillanes called Duterte fans idiots for still trusting the chief executive despite the many killings and corruption under his administration.
“Mas matinding katangahan na hanggang ngayon ay hindi ka naniniwala na si Presidente Duterte ay katanggap-tanggap sa sambayanang Pilipino kaya magising ka na sa bangungot mo,” Panelo said in his online commentary show “Counterpoint” Sunday.
The abogado also asked Trillanes and other opposition figures to “accept the reality” that the majority of Filipinos still hold a positive view of Duterte.
“Accept the reality na nakakuha tayo ng isang Presidente na pinagpala na Dakilang Lumikha at tinanggap ng sambayanang Pilipino,” he concluded.
