Vice President Leni Robredo is “welcome” to take China’s Sinovac Covid-19 vaccine, Malacañang said.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque made the remark during his press briefing held at the Philippine General Hospital Monday.
“Vice President Robredo, welcome po kayo magpabakuna ng Sinovac,” Roque said.
On Sunday, Duterte challenged Robredo to have herself immunized with Sinovac’s CoronaVac as she’s more eligible to receive a vaccine.
“Siya man ‘yong apurado, siya ang mauna. Ako, I cannot just decide. She’s young, I am not. I have to defer to my doctor,” the President said after the arrival ceremony for Covid-19 vaccines in Pasay.
Senior citizens are not recommended to be given the Sinovac vaccine as the Food and Drug Administration indicated use for clinically healthy adults only.
Duterte, 75, belongs to the vulnerable sector of senior citizens.
