“Reality bites.”
This was Palace Spokesman Harry Roque’s response to the statement of Vice President Leni Robredo that Filipinos don’t deserve rude and arrogant public servants.
In her radio program on Sunday, Robredo expressed that some government officials are ganging up on her and said they could not accept criticisms of their response to the coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
“I can only quote Winona Ryder: ‘Reality bites’,” Roque said during a televised briefing Monday.
“Hindi talaga matanggap na nagtatagumpay ang gobyerno sa lahat ng kanyang programa kasama na po sa laban natin sa Covid-19 and reality bites.
“Kung talagang may genuine issue po na ilalabas sa gobyerno, ilabas na ang totoong issue na ‘yan. Tama na po yang mga pasaring na ganyan,” he added.
In his speech during the Subway Project’s cutter head arrival last Friday, Roque boasted about the Duterte administration’s achievements in the country’s infrastructure and fight against Covid-19, telling critics: “Manigas kayong lahat!”
