The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) has 14 active COVID-19 virus cases, BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel Chaclag said on Thursday (April 15).
Chaclag said two of these persons, an inmate and a BuCor personnel, have been hospitalized.
“The rest (12 active cases) are all personnel who are on self quarantine since last week and on the way to recovery,” he assured.
The BuCor spokesperson noted that all 14 persons underwent reverse-transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) tests.
However, Chaclag said rapid antigen testing showed there are more who tested positive for COVID-19.
As of April 14, rapid antigen tests revealed there are 175 inmates, 161 BuCor trainees, and 32 BuCor personnel who have COVID-19.
“All asymptomatic and more than a week na rin isolated,” he assured.
“They are tested weekly using rapid antigen and if negative, they go back to routine job or old places,” he added.
