DOH to probe alleged cut in hazard pay of health workers – Palace

By Prince Golez

Malacañang allayed concerns that the hazard pay for frontline healthcare workers has been reduced.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said medical frontliners still receive full hazard pay, citing President Rodrigo Duterte’s Administrative Order (AO) 35.

“Hindi po niri-reduce ang hazard pay dahil ang hazard pay po na iyan ay sang-ayon po sa isang order ng ating Presidente,” Roque said in a televised briefing Tuesday.

The secretary said they have relayed the issue to the Department of Health (DOH) so the agency can look into the reported reduction of hazard pay.

“Naparating na po natin sa DOH ang concerns. At ang sabi naman po ni USec. Vega ay tinitignan nila kung ano at bakit may mga report na binabawasan ang hazard pay,” he added.

Under AO 35, all human resources for health (HRHs) shall receive an active hazard duty pay of up to P3,000 per month.

HRHs include medical, allied medical, and other personnel in the public sector, who are on the frontlines of the Covid-19 crisis.
