Malacañang has appealed to government officials to “be careful” in their statements against the community pantry initiatives.
In a virtual presser Monday, Spokesman Harry Roque said he supports the gag order issued by National Security Adviser Hermogenes Esperon Jr., vice chairman of the National Task Force to End Local Communist Armed Conflict (NTF-ELCAC), against NTF-ELCAC spokespersons LtGen Antonio Parlade and Communications Undersecretary Lorraine Badoy.
When asked if he supports this order from Esperson, Roque answered in the affirmative.
“Ang ating pakiusap po ay alam naman po natin ang polisiya natin. Winiwelcome natin itong bayanihan ng community pantries,” the secretary said.
“Hinihingi natin sa lahat ng opisyales na maging mas maingat at maging mas malalim sa kanilang mga sinasabi na kailangan mas malawak ang kanilang pananaw,” he added.
Parlade earlier admitted that they are checking the profiles of community pantry organizers.
Badoy, on one hand, called on the Communist Party of the Philippines-New People’s Army-National Democratic Front to “stop fooling” Filipinos by taking advantage of the bayanihan spirit.
