Former Interior Undersecretary Wencelito Andanar has passed away, his son confirmed Monday.
He was 73 years old.
Presidential Communications Operations Office Secretary Martin Andanar said his father died of liver cancer at the Veterans Memorial Medical Center.
In 2018, Wincelito was appointed by President Rodrigo Duterte as his special envoy to Malaysia for a term of six months.
The elder Andanar also served as undersecretary of the Department of the Interior and Local Government during the time of former president Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.
