Safe Sinovac! Duque gets COVID-19 jab

Health Secretary Francisco Duque III received Sinovac’s COVID-19 vaccine Friday (April 23) in a bid to shore up public confidence in the government’s vaccination program.

The 64-year-old Duque was eligible to get the vaccine as part of the A2 category or senior citizens. The Department of Health (DOH) has cleared the use of Sinovac for the elderly population.

Duque said getting vaccinated against COVID-19 is crucial to end the pandemic.

“As I receive my dose of the Covid-19 vaccine today, I invite everyone to do the same and choose to be protected. Let us all take part in protecting public health, and let us be in unison in spreading one message: that vaccines are safe, and vaccines are effective,” he said.

National Task Force Against Covid-19 chief implementer and vaccine czar Secretary Carlito Galvez said the country is expecting a steady supply of vaccines starting the third quarter of 2021 as bul of deliveries from various vaccine manufacturers are slated to arrive from June to August.
