May nahuli na ba? DOJ wants updates from NBI next week on ‘bakuna for sale’

National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) Director Eric Distor has until next week to submit to Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra the initial findings of the investigation conducted on the alleged selling of anti-COVID-19 virus vaccines as well as vaccination slots.

Guevarra told Distor this under Department Order No. 120 issued May 24 which instructed the NBI to “to conduct an investigation on the alleged illegal sale of COVID-19 vaccines and/or sale of vaccination slots, and, if evidence warrants, to file the appropriate charges against all persons involved and found responsible for any unlawful act in connection therewith.”

In the same order, the secretary directed the NBI chief “to submit reports on the progress of the subject investigation directly to the Office of the Secretary within ten days and periodically thereafter.”

Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) Chairman Benhur Abalos had asked the NBI for help in conducting the investigation on reports that the selling was taking place through social media.

According to reports, vaccination in Mandaluyong and San Juan cities were being sold from P6,000 up to P12,000.

The Philippine National Police (PNP) has already proceeded with conducting its investigation into the matter.
