Senator Imee Marcos met Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte again this week, barely three weeks after they saw each other in the Dutertes’ bailiwick.

Duterte confirmed to ABS-CBN reporter RG Cruz that she had merienda (afternoon snacks) with Marcos at the senator’s home on June 15.

A photo making the rounds online showed Duterte with Marcos, Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa and a handful of people.

“Very casual merienda. Sabi kasi ni Senator Imee, kailangan kong mag-merienda before I come home to Davao City,” Duterte told Cruz.

The presidential daughter said politics wasn’t discussed at the meeting, as other guests at Imee’s home were people from the private sector.

Imee flew to Davao City with her brother, former senator Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., on May 29 to meet Duterte.

The mayor confirmed their meeting by posting a photo online showing the three of them sharing a meal.

The picture sparked speculation about a possible Duterte-Marcos tandem for 2022.
