Malacañang on Wednesday welcomed the decision of the World Health Organization (WHO) to issue an emergency use listing for the Covid-19 vaccine made by Sinovac Biotech.
Sinovac’s vaccine, called CoronaVac, is the second Chinese developed vaccine given the emergency listing. Last month, the organization approved the Sinopharm vaccine for emergency use.
Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque said the WHO approval could help boost confidence in the vaccine.
There are already 5.5 million Sinovac vaccine doses which have arrived in the Philippines. More vaccines from Sinovac are expected to arrive in June and the following months.
