Andanar optimistic about post-pandemic recovery, calls for public cooperation

By Prince Golez

The Duterte administration is preparing the country to bounce back to a more dynamic post-pandemic economy, Communications Secretary Martin Andanar said.

In a press statement over the weekend, Andanar said the government is laying a stronger foundation that may be carried forward and be bolstered by the succeeding administration.

“The President will prepare the road for the next administration so that we can bounce back to where we were before the pandemic and even go beyond that in terms of the status of our economy, job creation, social services, peace and order, among others,” he also said.

Andanar underscored that with only 10 months left in his term, Duterte will be critical in setting the country’s direction, and hoped that the next administration will be ready to assume responsibility.

“Whatever President Duterte does in the last 10 months of his term will be crucial for the next administration. And we are hoping that the next administration will be post-pandemic already,” the Presidential Communications Operations Office chief said.

He likewise appealed for the full cooperation of everyone as the country continues to grapple with the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The country has to reach higher milestones. That’s why we are seeking your 100 percent corporation. We must be in one direction and embody the spirit of bayanihan,” according to him.

“We are preparing the climate for the next administration to rebuild our country from the effects of Covid-19,” he concluded.
