Communications Secretary Martin Andanar believes that President Rodrigo Duterte has fulfilled his campaign promises as shown on his high approval ratings.
“The approval rating of the President based on the Pulse Asia report last 2020 was at 91 percent because he was able to fulfill the promises he made last 2016 within the 5 years of his leadership,” Andanar said in an interview Monday.
He cited the accomplishments of the Duterte administration such as the chief executive’s campaigns against illegal drugs, criminality, and corruption; and highlighted policies that benefitted the poorest sectors in the country.
This included the government’s Malasakit Center, a one-stop-shop that helps poor and indigent patients through the support of government agencies, and the implementation of Republic Act 10969 or the Free Irrigation Service Act.
“Because the President wants free hospitalization and medicine, he augmented the allocation intended for the poor. Now, there are over 2 million Filipinos who benefitted from Malasakit Centers,” said Andanar.
He also said that small-time farmers are now enjoying the provisions of the free irrigation law, which exempts farmers with landholdings of eight hectares or less from paying the irrigation service fee for water sourced from national and communal irrigation systems.
