Konti pa lang! BuCor: 474 out of 48K inmates nationwide get COVID-19 jab

There are now 474 inmates of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) who got vaccinated against the COVID-19 virus, BuCor Deputy Director General Gabriel Chaclag said on Friday (Aug 20).

Chaclag said vaccinated include 200 inmates of the Correctional Institution for Women (CIW) in Mandaluyong City; 214 at the San Ramon Prison and Penal Farm (SRPPF) in Zamboanga City; and 60 at the Davao Prison and Penal Farm (DPPF).

“All senior PDLs yan,” Chaclag said.

However, he admitted that the number is still measly compared to the more than 48,000 inmates of the Bucor.

“Dependent kasi tayo sa vaccine program ng LGU (local government units) kung saan matatagpuan ang prison camp,” he said.

Because of this, Chaclag urged LGUs to help the BuCor in getting its inmates vaccinated.

“Sa ibang prisons katulad ng NBP (New Bilibid Prison) ay wala pa,” he noted.
