Palace congratulates athletes, coaches on achievements in Tokyo Olympics

Malacañang on Monday lauded the performance of Filipino athletes in the just-concluded Tokyo Olympics.

In a virtual presser, Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque thanked the athletes and their coaches for bringing pride to the Philippines, and the Filipino people for their support.

“Sa pagtatapos ng Tokyo Olympics, ang Pilipinas ang officially the best performing country sa buong Southeast Asia. Isang gold, dalawang silver at isang bronze ang nasungkit ng ating mga atleta,” said Roque.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa lahat ng mga atleta, sa kanilang coaches, trainers at mentors, at sa sambayanang Pilipino sa kanilang walang sawang suporta,” he added.

The secretary hoped that the country can “sustain the momentum” going through Paris 2024.

“Narating natin ang best Olympic performance ng Pilipinas in history. Let us seize this moment and sustain the momentum in Paris 2024,” said Roque.
