The Marcos family must not get away with the sins of the late dictator Ferdinand Marcos.
For Senator Manny Pacquiao, former Senator Bongbong Marcos and his family must apologize for the martial law abuses and return the ill-gotten wealth during the presidency of their father.
Pacquiao, in an interview over ANC’s Headstart, said Bongbong could not use his youth as an excuse to claim he was unaware of events during his father’s martial law regime.
“Ayoko kasing manira pero yung issue ng yaman na hawak ng mga Marcoses ay kung ano man ‘yung nanakaw nila sa ating gobyerno, kailangan sigurong ibalik ‘yung sinisigaw ng taumbayan,” Pacquiao told Headstart host Karen Davila.
“Sang-ayon ako diyan dahil kailangan kung nagkamali ka, marunong kang humingi ng patawad,” he said, when asked by Davila if the Marcos must apologize.
If elected president, Pacquiao vowed to launch a review on the investigations into the Marcoses and find out how much they really owed the government.
Pacquiao has retired from boxing and decided to run for president in the 2022 elections. Bongbong is also running for president with a promise to bring back “unifying leadership” in the country.
On Bongbong’s claim he was still young during his father’s dark tenure, Pacquiao said the former senator could not say he did not know what was happening.
“‘Yung sinabi niya na bata pa raw siya noong time na ‘yun which is hindi po yan tama na sabihin niya na wala pa siyang alam doon sa mga nangyari noong panahon ng tatay niya,” he said.
“Actually, nakasuot po siya ng camouflage noon, suot ng Army noong nasa Malacañang siya at hindi niya puwedeng sabihin na wala siyang alam,” he said.
